What is cable sleeving used for?
Cable sleeving protects wires, hoses and cable bundles against abrasion, heat, flame, electromagnetic interference, contamination and mechanical damage. It also organizes harnesses and improves serviceability.
How do I choose the correct sleeving diameter?
Measure the maximum outside diameter of the cable or bundle, include connectors if needed, and choose a sleeving range that does not operate permanently at maximum expansion. For critical projects, test a sample.
What is the difference between PET and nylon sleeving?
PET sleeving is light, flexible and suitable for many standard harnesses. Nylon sleeving is usually chosen when abrasion, vibration or repeated movement is more severe.
Which sleeving is suitable for high temperatures?
Fiberglass and coated fiberglass sleeving are common choices near engines, heaters, ovens and other hot zones. The exact temperature limit depends on the model and coating.
Which sleeving provides EMI protection?
Tinned copper braided sleeving provides electromagnetic shielding when it is correctly grounded and integrated into the cable assembly.
Can sleeving be installed over existing cables?

Is flame-retardant sleeving the same as non-flammable sleeving?
No. Flame-retardant sleeving is designed to slow or reduce flame spread under specified tests. It should not be treated as completely non-flammable unless the datasheet and certification state that performance.
